Mahima

I’m Mahima, and Here’s My Story.

Hello,

Here’s my story about my struggles. After completing 12th grade, I found myself feeling stressed. Sure, there was stress before that too, but I was in a stressful situation concerning what to study in college. All my friends joined a particular university together, and I ended up at a different university. I had trouble making new friends, and I was struggling with some anxiety issues. All my school friends would get to hang out together, and this made me feel very alone. Over time, these problems continued to grow. I still can’t forget how difficult it was back then to sleep at night. I didn’t want to go out, and I didn’t care to eat. I convinced myself that I have no friends, no one wants to talk to me, and nobody loves me.

After some time, I finally decided to speak to someone, so I spoke with my best friend from school. I started telling her how I felt. I also began meeting all my friends, and I also tried making a few new ones. In a matter of time, I could see myself overcoming my anxiety and my stress. One can never know when small things can become big. This is why it’s a good idea to confide in someone. Talk to anyone! It could be your friends, family, basically anyone who understands you.

Through the One More Light app, you can share your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. You can talk about anything that’s hurting you mentally and emotionally. I’m presently a listener on the app, and I know what it’s like to have people judging or not listening to you. When I first came across this app, I knew it was perfect for me. Because I wanted to help people by listening to them and helping them overcome or reduce their struggles without making any judgments.

People tend to take mental health lightly. Some say that depression or anxiety is a sign of weakness. Some even accuse those suffering of being attention seekers or full of drama. All this couldn’t be further from the truth.

As humans, we all have emotions and feelings. Anyone could feel depressed or anxious. And mental health is all about safeguarding our emotional and social wellbeing. It’s important in every stage of life.

People today are so caught up in their activities that they do not find time to talk to others. More people are also suffering from depression these days. But for good emotional wellbeing, we need someone who can listen to us and understand our feelings. Even helping others such as our friends and family can go a long way into making them feel better.

We must help increase mental health awareness. And if things get serious, consider professional help.

Thank you.

Mahima
